Home sweet home

Standard

We’re back!

We made it in one piece.

…with a sick baby…

It isn’t much fun to have a sick baby while flying. The good part is he slept a majority of the way.

Anyway, we had a great time. On to the next thing…

PLANNING A BIRTHDAY BASH!

The party plans are rolling. I’m glad birthdays are only once a year. I’m going need a year to recover from this.

On a completely different note, I want everyone to know about this website…Crockin Girls

It is great. They have TONS of crockpot recipes. How great is this for moms with little rugrats crawling under their feet while they are in the kitchen? It’s just really great for anyone that doesn’t want to be stressed with what to do for dinner.

That’s about all for today.

Later gators!

We’re leavin on a jet plane

Standard

We leave for Florida this afternoon. Yay!! I can’t wait for some sunshine and pool time.

People are always amazed when I walk through the airport with Mason by myself. I guess if I didn’t do this every month it would be a more stressful situation.

It’s actually more stressful when Brent tags along. (he is today)

Then I have 2 kids to get through an airport. πŸ™‚

If any of you watch Up All Night (one of my favorite shows) a couple of weeks ago they showed them trying to fly with their baby. I think if you travel as a big ball of stress (like Reagan), then your kids can tell and they act crazy.

Don’t get me wrong. It’s exhausting to travel with Mason alone, but he isn’t bad.Β

He’s just a wild child and he thinks everyone on the airplane is his friend.

In honor of our trip, I’ve compiled a list of thoughts on traveling with a baby.Β

1. Yes, you do have to take them out of the stroller when you go through the security. They aren’t going to enjoy being folded up in there and sent through the x-ray machine.

2. If someone wants to help you, let them. I know we are all super moms that can do it all alone, but it probably made them feel better.

3. If you have a baby you don’t have to go through that body scanner thing. You just walk through the regular one. If they see your husband carrying the baby, they will make him hand the baby to you and he still has to be body scanned. This is one of those perks to being a woman. πŸ™‚

4. It doesn’t matter how many toys you bring, the most fun thing to do is open and close the tray on the seat in front of you.Β

5. Family restrooms are the greatest invention ever. The ones in the Tampa airport are exquisite (as far as a bathroom goes). They are usually kind of hidden. You have to be a pro to find them.

6. Generally, old ladies will mention the fact that you didn’t put shoes on your child while traveling. Well, duh. Why would I want to try and keep track of 2 more small items while I’m running around an airport and a plane.Β

7. The one time you don’t pack an extra outfit in the diaper bag is the one time you will need it.

8. After many experiments, I have decided that the aisle seat is the best to have if you are holding a baby.

9. No, you aren’t allowed to stow your child in the overhead bins.

10. Flight attendants love babies. Especially the kind that don’t cry.

It’s a hodge-podge

Standard

Do other people use the term “hodge-podge” or am I just weird? I keep discovering terms that I use and apparently no one knows what they mean.

Just some random thoughts for today:

-Why do people just walk up and touch an infant? I’m by NO means a germaphobe, but babies can get sick so easily. Thanks, random stranger.

-Cicadas will most likely be the death of me. The other day one landed on my keys in the stroller, I just waited for it to leave. They have got to be the weirdest, most pointless bugs I’ve ever seen. They’re like flying monsters.

-It’s hot. Really, really hot.

-I accomplished a grocery run with Mason today. My first attempt was not so good, so luckily this trip was much better. I had a long list, too. No screaming, just some advice from a couple of old ladies that I didn’t ask for. Gotta love it.

-When Mason was first born I wouldn’t let him go out without being dressed properly. Shorts, pants, shoes, a nice shirt, nothing frumpy. Now, it’s so stinkin hot, I just throw him in a onesie and call it a day. That kid sweats more than a grown man.

-I’m attempting 3 brand new recipes this week. They look exciting. I love Pioneer Woman. I think if we met in real life we would be really good friends.

-We leave for Florida on Monday. I couldn’t be more excited. I’ve got Mason some swim diapers and super cute board shorts for his first time to the beach.

…I also have myself some super cover ups. This still isn’t pretty. haha

-I just realized that we haven’t even thought about what to do with the puppies while we are gone…

-I finished working out 45 minutes ago and I’m still exhausted. I’m not sure I can get up from the computer any time soon.

-Today, Mason was sleeping so deeply, I got worried he was dead. He wasn’t.

-Why don’t people use spell check on their blogs? I’ve seen way too many errors for my liking recently. Not that I never make them, but multiple in one post is silliness.

Have a happy hump day everyone!!

Tomorrow is the day

Standard

I leave for Nashville tomorrow morning. Should be an interesting ride considering I’m sick in the mornings and at night. πŸ™‚ I’m really excited for the new things to come, but really sad to leave West Palm. I have so many friends and memories here. I grew up down here and it’s hard to imagine living anywhere else. (Except for that time we moved to South Carolina. I like to refer to those as the “Dark Years”)

Anyway, I still have a million and 2 things to do before I leave in the morning. Lucky me, it’s finals week at school. Since I do online school it isn’t too bad, but I still have to get them done before I leave. I also have to make sure I’m in Nashville and rested in enough time to do a final on Sunday. (why do teachers only open finals for one day?!) So far- 2 down, 1 to go before I leave, and 1 to do on Sunday.

Not to mention all the stuff I have to try to cram in Brent’s little car. Maybe I’ll tie some stuff to the roof. That would be hilarious. Of course, I will only tie Brent’s stuff to the roof, no need in damaging my precious goods. πŸ™‚

Today was my last day at work. It wasn’t a real day at work. I just went in to finish up some stuff and to make sure the new girl (Cindy) was good to go. It’s really hard leaving and saying goodbye. I think those were my first goodbye’s. I managed to sneak out of church Wednesday to avoid all of those. It’s too rough. Plus, I hate “goodbye” I prefer “see ya later”. It’s not like I’m going away forever. I’ll be back to visit plenty. West Palm does have a beach and all. πŸ™‚

Tomorrow will be the hardest I’m sure. I have to say goodbye to my best friends ever- my parents. I’m pretty lucky to be so close to my parents, I know a lot of people aren’t. But, I think we all know it’s the best thing for Brent and me. Plus, there is a direct flight from Nashville to Ft. Lauderdale and I’m ready to rack up some frequent flyer points!

So, not that I feel I need to say goodbye on the blog- I’m going to keep blogging- but “see ya later” to my Florida friends and “hello” to my Nashville friends.

P.S.- My birthday is in 16 days!
